Handmade gifts to order

Custom designing handmade gifts are one of my favorite things to do.  It's a very rewarding feeling to create gifts for clients that they feel a reflection of them for their gift-giving.

Candle Holders - elegant black grosgrain ribbon tied into a bow, trimmed with rhinestones.  Gifts for Mrs. H's staff.

Shoe Bags  -  Duplicated and hand cut the logo; fused it to
purple, red, lavender and pink flannel
finished with a silk drawstring ribbon,  Created for
a member of the Red Hatters Organization
to give as gifts to her fellow club members.

"Working What You Got!"

Spring is here!

For those among us fortunate enough to be able to rent an apartment with a kitchen; here are some cool ideas to have your kitchen looking "fresh and so clean, clean" for Spring! (sorry, I couldn't resist).

*Declutter
Clean out drawers and cabinets, get rid of mismatch glasses, fast
food plastic cups :), dishes, cooking and eating utensils

 *Paint
Refresh you kitchen with a fresh coat of paint.  Hey...! What about
painting the inside of your kitchen drawers and cabinets a different
 color?  Humm?

*Replace Cabinet Pulls and Knobs
Simple and easy way to update kitchen cabinets.  Also, replace outdated, damaged or missing outlet and switch-plate covers.

*Replace Kitchen Lighting
Most apartment kitchens have only one overhead fixture that usually doesn't provide enough light.  Consider brighting your kitchen work space by placing  touch lights under the cabinets.

*Buy New Appliances
- Blender - Toaster - Electric Can Opener - Microwave - Coffee Maker -
Updating appliances is a quick and easy way to make an impact in your kitchen.

*New Rug and Window Treatments
Works every time!

*New Artwork and Accessories
Affordable decorative pieces can be found at outlets, discount stores and thrift stores.  Hanging a mirror is a decorative way to bring more light into your kitchen.  Replace towel racks to match your knobs & pulls.  Spray paint frames to match your decor and place pictures of family and friends doing kitchen activities in them for your walls.  Baskets, trays & bowls, oh my!

"A few photos" to inspire.

Make a list of the changes and updates you're going to make.  A list of the materials and accessories you need to purchase.  Give yourself plenty of time.   HAVE FUN!

Mix Media "Wings of Peace"

Below is a mix media piece I'm working on.  I used recycled postage stamps to cover wood letters, hand dyed fabric with hand stitching, an old Christmas card, newspaper and acrylic paints to create "Wings of Peace".  Predominant colors are red, white and blue. When I'm done, it'll be posted to my Etsy store and on EBay.

Birthday Party Decoration's for Dillan

"A few photos" from Dillan's, last minute, 7th Birthday.

The star is cut from a recycled Christmas Card.  Added to let Dillan
know he's a star! The triangles are cut from recycled paper and old
gift wrapping.   I copied letters to spell
Happy Birthday Dillan
(Please don't tell Dillan I misplaced the letter "B").  The letters
are glued to the center of the triangles.  I used curl sheen to thread
the banner and hang it on the wall.

Fresh fruit, flowers, gourmet suckers, party favors,
personalized banner and a few balloons, made
Dillan a very happy boy!

Happy Friday!!!

Lace!

One of fashion's trends for Spring 2012, is the "use of Lace"!  Nothing is more "feminine" than a lace dress.

The "use of Lace"! in fashion has made it's way into
our home interiors and accessories.

This room was designed by Brooke Verich.
What do you think? Like or dislike?

I really like the use of lace for the bottom
window covering.  Cute!

This table setting reminds me of a special
 Spring/Summer event.  Traditional yet
modern.

eve4art's Lace! DIY!

I made these vases from my favorite,

 ah-umm, beverage bottles.

This is how I made them:

                   * soak the bottles to remove the labels
                   * used 2" & 2 1/2" black lace trim
                   * used clear drying glue sparingly to glue the lace to the bottles
                   * finished with a sheer organza bow

Super easy and economical to make.  Grouping several together, along with matching lace trimmed candle holders, make a great table scape. Ideal for an informal gathering, wine & cheese party, etc.

Succulents!

Our three "diamond in the rough" Goodwill finds from last week are now containers for beautiful succulent plants!  Succulents  are easy to grow, don't require a lot of watering and need lots of sunshine/light.  Plus, they don't cost as much as most indoor plants.

And, "here are a few pictures" of the "end use" for these Goodwill diamonds.  You can mix one or several varieties in a container together for a modern, simple and elegant arrangement.

These containers would also be great as candle holders.

Recycle! Reuse! Reinvent!
