DIY Kitchen Decorating on a Shoe Strang

It has taken me all this time to get the kitchen together. (9/24/2012 post)  I used jewel tone accessories in my 10ft. X 14ft. kitchen.  The walls where painted bright white to brighten up the small space's dark floor, brown wood cabinets and brown wood dining table.  Below are "a few photos" of my kitchen and some photos of cool jewel tone accessories.

$12.00 rug from Marshalls

I made two patchwork pillows to  to go on my $15.00 Ikea chairs.
I've had the glasses for a few years, who knew!
I was lucky the stove, refriderator and kitchen table were already here!  And there's a large window over the kitchen table that gets plenty of sunlight. I did purchase the clock and tea pot from Urban Home,  drum lamp that hangs over the table from CB2, towels and votives from Cost Plus.  Everything else you see, I had already!

I love these  beveled glass decorative
switch plates, available at Susan Goldstick, Inc.
How about these glass door knobs for a jewel-like
kitchen accent by Graham & Green?

These jewel tone accessories add drama to a room and create a sense of luxury, sophistication and comfort.

I'm very pleased with the way the kitchen came together.  I hope the above accessories and my kitchen photos inspire you and your decorating project!

SUMMER 21013, SMALL SPACE CONTAINER GARDENING

You don't need a yard to have a garden.  Container gardens are an easy alternative to decorating your small balcony or patio.  Below are "a few photos":

Love this planter box with a space for chilling wine!
I hope these pictures inspire you to create an outdoor space at your place.
Private owned nursery's are a great for answering questions and
making suggestions.  Sometimes they even plant the flowers in the containers!
Enjoy!
  And remember to be kind!!

Color Blocking for Summer 2013

This season it's all about color blocking.  The trend is showing up in everything from shoes, sunglasses, handbags and scarves to clothing.  My interpretation of the season's trend are these tri-color skirts I designed and made.   Below are "a few photos":

I hope my color block skirts inspire you to feel comfortable mixing colors with pieces you already have in your wardrobe! Combining three colors is a good beginning.  Have Fun!  And be kind :)
