Huntington Library, San Marino, California

While lunching in Pasadena,  I decided to visit the Huntington Library in San Marino.  One time, visiting  Pasadena,  I got lost driving back to L.A. and drove pass The Ritz Carlton Hotel  in a residental neighborhood.   And I thought, this is a strange location for a fancy hotel.   I  later learned,  I was in  San Marino, an upscale neighborhood borderlinging Pasadena.

Driving to the Huntington Library from Pasadena, I passed some of San Marino's beautiful, serene homes and estates.  I thought, who lives here?  Beverly Hills, Brentwood, were the ideal neighborhoods for me growing up.  This is awesome!  (Too far from the beach for me, but awesome!).   I thought about a South Pasadena's resident's comment about her not having BET on cable, because of the protests from the residents in San Marino (still didn't register, at the time.  What ever.)

I arrived at the Huntington Library with approximately 1 hour to closing.   I paid $20.00  (later learned I didn't need to pay to visit the grounds. It's free!)

1902, Henry Edward Huntington purchased the San Marino Ranch and along with his wife, Arabella Duval Huntington,  transformed it into an Art Collection, and Botanical Gardens, host to 500,000 vistors each year.  There are lots of places, on the grounds, to sit and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

Below "are a few photos" from my visit.

On my next visit, I'll make sure I get there early to enjoy all the grounds and the galleries ($20.00).

Have you been to the Huntington Library?  What was your favorite experience?
