Mrs. Davis on the "Someday
My Prince Will Come" album cover
I met a lady at my day job and I recognized she lived in an area where a lot of celebrities and entertainers live. She asked me had I heard of Miles Davis and that she was his first wife. Wow!! Really!! (My memory of Miles Davis flashed back to the time I saw him at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A. He turned his back on the audience, played one song and walked off the stage. The audience loved it!! We bood and clapped at the same time!).
Again Mrs. Davis and I met and she told me about a red carpet event she went to back east to promote a movie. Of course, I had to know what she wore on the red carpet, she told me Escada. Couple of months later I talked to Mrs. Davis and she encouraged me to go see the showing of the film "Miles Ahead" at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza "Pan African Film Festival".
I've never been to a film festival before. It was exciting! I didn't expect Don Cheadle and his leading lady, Emayatzy Corinealdi, to step up to the mike and talk about the film and I didn't expect to be invited to one of the after parties! I enjoyed the movie about a man whose music I listen to and love. I didn't want the movie to end. It was movie premier night and I loved every minute of it! Below "are a few photos" including some Escada's Red Carpet fashions:
